Missing Sasquatch
Despite having gotten credentials to cover the fantastic lineup at the Sasquatch Music Festival that happened this past weekend, I didn't end up getting my travel plans to Seattle together. So I lolled around in the gorgeous SF weather, moping about missing such bands as The Constantines, Chad Van Gaalen, Neko Case and countless others.
In preparation to see Sam Roberts Band at Cafe Du Nord tonight, I stopped by their website and read the following:
Well, there's not much to say except that we are bitterly disappointed that our set at the Sasquatch Festival was cancelled due to severe weather yesterday... Everyone could see the black rainclouds surrounding the Gorge all day and the storm attacked just as the Constantines attacked the stage. The golfball size raindrops soon turned into hail, pelting the crowd who only seem to get wilder. Halfway through their set, the Cons were forced to stop as the P.A. shorted out (never to work again). The hail and water had drenched the soundboard and, well, that's all she wrote.
I feel bad for all the people who did make the journey to Sasquatch, and I feel bad for the bands who didn't get to play, but I feel better about not being able to make it up there.
PLUS -- The Constantines are in SF on June 9th. Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice. And We Are Scientists tomorrow.
And Sam Roberts tonight. His new record, Chemical City, is a great mix of singer-songwriter Americana and old fashioned rock with just enough psychedelic keyboards to make me feel nostalgic (and not violently annoyed -- it's a fine line with that psychedelia.)
But you know I love that he rocks the classic Buckingham.
Separated at birth: Lindsay and Sam.
